As Unitarians we believe all people, with or without a faith community, should have access to personalized ceremonies to mark important life events and transitions. Our officiants provide ceremonies for many rites of passage including weddings, renewal of vows, child namings and dedications, coming out ceremonies, memorial services, and graveside services.

Ceremonies can take place in a variety of locations: in First Unitarian Toronto’s sanctuary, at a home (private or institution), in public or private halls or gardens—just ask us! The venue should be private enough to ensure your ceremony can be conducted with dignity and the degree of formality comfortable for you.

Our officiants are members of our congregation who have been selected carefully for this important role. They are specially trained to design and lead beautiful ceremonies of all kinds, and are provincially licensed to perform weddings. They will be pleased to meet with you to design an individualized ceremony, one which reflects your values and personal spirituality.

For more information on how we can help you create a unique wedding service or other rite of passage, please contact our Officiant Coordinator.
